The answer to the coronavirus pandemic is to stay at home, but this is increasing the amount of stress that people are experiencing. The thought of the disease is causing everyone to worry about their health and everyone around them.

We have many ways to cope with this stress, and they include the following:

Remain Connected to Your Friends and Family

The CDC recommends that each person remain 6 feet away from other people. This action is awkward because human beings are known as “social animals,” so we need to be connected to each other.

When human beings are forced to be alone, they begin to experience anxiety and depression. It is important that people keep in touch with their friends and family members even though they cannot gather in groups at this time.

People can schedule a time to call someone they love at the same time each day. Skype is also an excellent thing to do because people can see each other as they visit.

Everyone is on their social media accounts regularly, but it is especially important to do so at this time. Social media gives us a sense of community, so it is hard to feel alone when we are engaging with each other online.

Don’t Drink Alcohol

People tend to medicate themselves by drinking alcohol, but this isn’t a good plan. Alcohol has been shown to stimulate the body’s production of stress hormones, so drinking alcohol potentially can compound the problem.

Instead, invest in your overall wellness from a holistic view.

You can swap mood-altering compounds with activities that will naturally elevate your mood and support those efforts with superfoods and healthy supplements like CBD. The easier you make it on yourself, the more likely you will keep to your routine and feel the results.

Find Someone Who Needs Help

A time like this increases the number of people in need of help. It is also a time when people are acting very selfishly, but resisting this temptation will do much more to reduce the stress that this pandemic is causing.

There may be plenty of people who need help in your community, and when you help others, it causes you to feel happiness. In contrast, the pandemic is making everyone feel powerless.

This reason is why there is so much anguish in the world. If you focus on fulfilling the needs of others, you won’t feel as powerless, and you will have a sense of purpose and meaning during this difficult time.

Spend Time in the Great Outdoors

Sometimes, the best medicine is a walk around your block. You will fill your lungs with fresh air and feel the warmth of the sun. It isn’t hard to avoid crowds when you do this. Take advantage of the ways that you can exercise outside, which is also very good for you.

You cannot go to the gym, but you can ride your bike, take long hikes or go jogging.

Exercise does wonderful things for your mood. For example, when people exercise, they experience lower levels of anxiety and depression. It also increases your self-esteem and reduces stress.

Give Permission

This one is simple in theory but very difficult for people. Many of us feel guilty or embarrassed when taking time for self-care, as though we are wasting time or being selfish.

But the truth is that you can’t adequately take care of others if you are not taking care of yourself.

So, if you need a 2-hour bubble bath to relax or binge an entire season of the latest Netflix series, then give yourself permission for that and don’t look back. The best version of you is the one that can handle anything life throws at you and take care of others.
