Tips On Sensitive Teeth Pain Relief

1. Salt Water Rinse

But, it is necessary to know in what amount the saltwater should be used. Hence to use the salt water to rinse following is the method:

  • Add ½ tsp of salt to a glass of lukewarm water and mix it properly.
  • Sip the solution in your mouth and keep it up to 30 seconds.
  • Spit out the solution.

2. Honey and warm water

Honey is the best element that completely vanishes all the pain and infections. It is the most effective way of home remedies that control the pain.

It is an element of an antibacterial agent that can be used to clean the wound. Inside the mouth, honey and water is the best home medicine that controls the sensitive pain of the teeth.

Daily drinking of honey and water every morning will eliminate the pain from the teeth. Honey and water help to speed healing, which can reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation.

  • Take one tablespoon of honey and a glass of warm water
  • Mix it well in a glass
  • Lastly, rinse your mouth properly with it.

3. Oil Pulling

Oil pulling is an ayurvedic method that has been followed from years and years originated from India. Oil pulling is down by swishing around the mouth for a few minutes before spitting it out.

The oil pulling can be made from sesame or coconut oil that will help to reduce tooth sensitivity. The positive results of using oil pulling will reduce tooth sensitivity and at the same time, it will also reduce the chances of gum infections.


4. Avoid Acidic Food

Acidic enzymes can spoil the overall health of the body including the mouth. Consumption of acidic food and drinks can spoil the overall health of the teeth as well as enamel, the biggest cause for tooth sensitivity and tooth decay.

It can also affect the gum line to recede that can expose the nerves. Some fruits can cause citric acid. Hence try adding them to your meal. Make sure, after eating such citric fruits wait for 30 mins after eating to brush your teeth.

5. Wear a mouthguard

Grinding of teeth also called bruxism can cause loss of enamel which could be the indication for the sensitivity. It is very commonly seen where people usually grind teeth at night.

Hence it is highly suggested to get a consultation from the dentist to solve the problem of losing enamel and sensitivity.

Once after visiting the dental clinic, the dentist will recommend you with a mouthguard that can be worn while sleeping. Another reason for grinding teeth is because of stress. It can be avoided by doing meditation, exercising, and more.

6. Use desensitizing Toothpaste

Desensitizing toothpaste contains such compounds that eliminate the sensitive pain from the teeth. They are made in such a way that it blocks the transmission of the sensitivity from the roots.

It is recommended to use the toothpaste twice a day to get healthy teeth and avoid pain in the tooth.

7. Turmeric

Turmeric is a substance that is used beyond cooking. Turmeric has medicinal means too. It is used to reduce the inflammation that occurs when the skin is wound due to an accident.

In terms of dentistry, turmeric plays the same role in reducing inflammation. In Ayurvedic language, turmeric has given more importance and explained the effects of using it.

The element in turmeric called curcumin represents the feature of anti-inflammation. Applying turmeric on the tooth that is sensitive and causing pain will relieve the inflammation from inside, relaxing the tooth from the pain.


For oral health to reduce the pain of the sensitive teeth following are the methods of applying turmeric in the right manner.

  • You can massage turmeric paste on the teeth.
  • It is easy to make a turmeric paste from 1 tsp turmeric, ½ tsp salt, and ½ tsp mustard oil.
  • Apply this paste to the teeth and gums twice a day for pain relief.

8. Green Tea

Green tea is a medicinal substance that cures all medical problems. It is a product that has maximum health benefits. It is beneficial for cancer prevention. Green tea has an antioxidant feature that works as an anti- anti-inflammation.

Hence, it is beneficial for dental health. To reduce the sensitive pain from the teeth use green tea twice a day as a mouthwash, which results in strengthening the teeth.

9. Hydrogen peroxide

It is a substance that is considered to be a mild antiseptic and disinfectant. It is highly and commonly used to cure wounds like cuts, burns, etc that prevents infection from spreading.

In dentistry, Hydrogen peroxide can be used to reduce the sensitive pain. Now how hydrogen peroxide is used to cure the teeth pain?

It can be used as a mouth rinse that heals gums and prevents the tooth from inflammation. To use Hydrogen peroxide following are the methods:

  • Add two caps of hydrogen peroxide into warm water.
  • Keep the solution in your mouth for 30 seconds
  • Spit the solution out
  • Lastly, rinse your mouth with tap water to remove the leftover hydrogen peroxide.
