The egg diet is a type of diet in which hard-boiled eggs are the main ingredient. Being low-calorie and high-protein, it is useful for those who want to lose weight and gain muscle mass fast.

Products You Can Eat on the Diet

To diversify your egg diet, you can include fish and meat, which are rich in protein. At the same time, it is strongly recommended that you eat many vegetables and fruits, which contain vitamins and cellulose. The products to ignore on this diet are pasta, bread, and other high-carb foods.

Type of the Egg Diet

There are various ways to organize your egg diet. Here are the most popular plans:

14-day diet. This eating plan contains 3 meals, one of which includes hard-boiled eggs.
Egg & Grapefruit diet. Here you should eat ½ of a grapefruit each time you have a meal.

Most importantly, you should forgo other fruits to enhance the grapefruit calorie burning effect. The Eggs Only Diet. During 2 weeks, all you have to consume is eggs and water.

Side Effects and Risks

Fatigue. Eggs are a low-carb food, which is why substituting other products with them will cause a lack of energy. Digestive Problems. Due to high levels of protein, frequent consumption of eggs is likely to result in constipation, nausea, etc.

Heart Conditions. Research shows that people eating more than 6 eggs a week are at a higher risk of ischemic stroke and heart failure than others. Diet Distress.

On the egg diet, you will consume less than 1000 calories a day, which is insufficient for your body to work properly. Women and men should eat at least 1200 and 1500 calories per day respectively.

First off, eggs are low in calories and carbs but rich in protein. This makes them a great item to eat if you want to get thinner. In fact, protein boosts metabolism and calorie burning, which is important for weight loss.

In addition, with every egg you eat you increase the amount of vitamins and antioxidants in your body. However, despite all the benefits of eggs, they are not helpful for everyone. Therefore, before starting your weight-loss plan, you should discuss it with your doctor.
