Naturopaths hail turmeric is the most essential herb in the world because of its health benefits. The traditional medicinal uses of turmeric have been confirmed by preliminary scientific evidence although health institutes stressed that such is far from conclusive.

A lot of naturopathic practitioners and nutritionists recommend the use of turmeric tea every day as a supplement or complementary treatment for those who have particular conditions and diseases.

How Does Turmeric Tea Work

Turmeric tea provides the nutritional and photochemical content functions of turmeric. Turmeric has the phytochemicals alpha-terpineol, alpha-pinene, curcumin and beta-carotene. Nutrients of this herb include iron, calcium, phosphorus, manganese, B-vitamins and potassium. Its curcumin is an antioxidant and can have more health power than Vitamin E. This can prevent tumors and cancers from growing as it protects DNA strands.

Benefits of Turmeric Tea

Turmeric is the ginger family’s rhizome. Tea made from turmeric fights free radicals, improves circulation and protects the liver. It has anti inflammatory, antibiotic and cholesterol-lowering properties making it a holistic solution for atherosclerosis and circulation.

It can also help for all kinds of arthritis. Turmeric tea helps with digestion as it stimulates the bile. Curcumin protects the tissues of the liver which can be damaged by drugs and alcohol (including acetaminophen). This kind of tea also serves as a good detoxifier.

Using Turmeric Tea

Turmeric tea can come in powder or instant forms some of which are mixed with green tea. When this tea is combined with ginger, it becomes tastier. To prepare this solution, a half a teaspoon of each powdered turmeric and ginger should be simmered in a couple cups of boiling distilled water. The solution should be simmered for around ten minutes. Below is another simple but healthy turmeric tea recipe:

  1. Boil 4 cups of water.
  2. Add a teaspoon of ground turmeric and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Use a fine sieve to strain the tea into a cup.
  4. Add lemon or honey to taste.

Some turmeric tea drinkers prefer to add one teaspoon of coconut milk and butter together with the turmeric. Although ground versions provide more convenience, it is really worthwhile to experiment with turmeric that is freshly grated so that the color will be more vibrant.

Adding turmeric’s health benefits to your tea can be possible by simply adding one teaspoon of turmeric to your cup of green or black tea. However, there are instant turmeric teas packed in tea bags available in health food grocery stores that you can get.

If you haven’t given this tea a try yet, don’t waste any time! Don’t hesitate to add a bit of spice to your next cup so that you can make use of the healthy benefits.
