The summer months are here already as we head deeper into the year, and while the UK will experience quite a hot summer this year, the fashion trends in 2018 look even hotter. If you have not checked all the trends out yet, go through the following five and get ready to meet summer with all the grace in the world.
Pastel colours have caught on for the summer this year, especially after Preen’smuch-acclaimed show where the theme was women’s empowerment. Lilac is going to be a hit this summer, along with purple and cream. It’s not that pastel colours ever really went out of fashion, but they are definitely going to become a major trend this year in the UK.
Puff-sleeves are in this year and if that reminds you of the 80s, then that’s because they are supposed to. Puff-sleeved jackets, high-waist jeans and white boots are back again. Since the likes of Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent are all supporting the trend, rest assured that the puff-sleeves are making a comeback.
Feather is not an ideal choice in the UK where rain is always just around the corner, but that isn’t stopping the ostrich and marabou feathers from making their way into collections by Anthony Vaccarello and John Galliano.
It may not be very practical, but it does look quite stylish nonetheless. Do keep in mind that while feather harvesting isn’t the same as harvesting fur, it isn’t necessarily as ethical as one may think either.
Colours are getting Back on the Beach
Vibrant hues, swirly prints and colourful necklaces are making a comeback on the beach and the beach turbans are not off the list either. It’s going to be less about the skin and more about the colours this year and going by how things are shaping up, feel free to go as crazy with the colours and prints as you wish at the beach in 2018.
Transparent Rain Macs
We just discussed feathers being an inappropriate fit in a place where a shower is always on the forecast, so here’s something that is both practical and fashionable at the same time. If Karl Lagerfeld is saying that transparent rain hats and plastic macs are fashionable, who are we to argue! In any case, no one can deny that it is one of those rare occasions where fashion really does meet practicality.
This is not a definitive list, of course, but it’s a good one to get yourself acquainted with the ongoing and upcoming trends for this summer nevertheless.
