Simple but Healthy Recipes to Cook in a Toaster Oven

Eating the right type of food is very important to your overall health. Since we live in a busy world where people rarely have enough time to prepare meals in their kitchens, fast foods are what most of us tend to survive with. Most of our diets consist of processed foods that are mostly unhealthy.

While some of the processed foods taste so sweet when you eat them, they have serious ramifications for your health that could lead to many illnesses. Cooking healthy food in your kitchen does not need to take a lot of time as you think. There are many simple but healthy recipes out there you can prepare using a toaster oven in as little as fifteen minutes.

If you have a family, you will need to get a larger toaster oven to have an easy time cooking these foods. Healthy Recipes You Can Prepare In Few Minutes

1. Tex-Mex Chicken Quesadillas

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Prep: 25 minutes
  • Serves: 4


  • 2 green onions
  • 1 1/2 c. of shredded-Monterey Jack-cheese
  • 2 c. of shredded, skinless rotisserie-chicken meat
  • 1/4 c. of fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1 pickled jalapeño Chile
  • 3/4 c. of salsa Verde
  • 4 burrito-size flour tortillas
  • 1/2 c. of reduced-fat sour cream

How to Prepare:

  1. First, you will need to preheat the toaster oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. After that, you will need to slice the onions into thin pieces and then reserve two tablespoons of the green tops for garnish.
  3. Divide the chicken, jalapeno, cheese, and cilantro as well the remaining green onion evenly each side of the tortillas and then fold over the other half.
  4. Put the quesadillas in one later on a toaster oven tray that is lined with foil and then toast for eight to ten minutes. The tortillas should become golden brown and the cheese should have melted after the ten minutes. You may need to put the quesadillas in the oven in batches to avoid overcrowding it.
  5. Slice every quesadilla into half and then serve it with salsa Verde. You can add sour cream to the quesadilla if you like and then sprinkle with the green onions you reserved earlier on.

2. Herb Roasted Chicken Tenders

  • Servings: 2


  • 7 ounces of chicken tenders
  • 1/2 teaspoon of herbes de Provence
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard

How to Prepare:

  1. First and foremost, you will need to pre-heat your oven 450 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Next, you will need to take half of the olive oil and then drizzle it onto the toaster oven tray.
  3. After that, you will need to season the chicken with salt, herbes de Provence and pepper and then arrange the chicken in one layer on the tray.
  4. Take the remaining olive and drizzle it over the seasoned chicken.
  5. Put the chicken into the toaster oven and allow it to bake for about eight to ten minutes or until it is properly cooked through.
  6. While the chicken continues to cook, stir together the honey and Dijon mustard and then serve the chicken tenders with mustard on the side.

Alternately, you can serve the chicken tenders with an arugula salad or on skewers as an appetizer. To prepare the arugula salad, you will need to take a mixing bowl and then gently toss to coat two cups of baby arugula, two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and two teaspoons of balsamic vinegar. Season the salad with the pepper and fine sea salt to taste.

3. Healthy Quick Mini Apple Pie

This is a healthy and delicious apple pie that you should make a point of preparing someday. It is comprised of an apple tart that is made inside of a tortilla.


  • 1 flour tortilla
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1/2 apple
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon

How to Prepare:

  1. Take the apple and slice it thinly into half.
  2. Put the slices of the apple on the flour tortilla.
  3. Take the honey and drizzle it lightly on the apple slices.
  4. Take the cinnamon and sprinkle it generously on the apple slices.
  5. Put the apple slices in a toaster oven and allow them to bake for about 5 minutes or till they are soft.

4. Za’atar Pita Chips with Yogurt Dip

This is a simple but healthy snack that you will definitely enjoy eating with your family. The following is how it is prepared.


  • 4 tablespoons of za’atar
  • 2 large pitas or four small-sized ones
  • 5 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of mint (chopped)
  • 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 small garlic clove (minced or grated)

How to Prepare:

  1. The first thing you will need to do is pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. After that, combine the olive oil and za’atar in a bowl until a paste is formed.
  3. Take one pita and then cut it open around the edge in order to create two rounds. Do the same with the remaining pita.
  4. Put the pita rounds on a baking sheet and spread the za’atar mixture you created earlier on the rough side of the pita rounds. Use the back of a spoon to spread the za’atar mixture.
  5. Bake the pita rounds for about five to seven minutes. Allow it to cool slightly and then cut into wedges.
  6. Combine mint, yogurt, salt and garlic and then serve alongside the pita chips.

5. Light & Sassy Salsa Tuna Melt

This is a light yet filling recipe that uses ingredients that complement each other in a very tasty way. The following is how to prepare it.


  • 1 3 oz. can of white tuna in water (drained and flaked)
  • 2 tablespoons of thinly sliced green onion or chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon of light mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons of salsa
  • 2 slices of Sargento® sliced reduced fat Colby jack cheese
  • 1 English muffin (sourdough or whole grain), split and lightly toasted

How to Prepare:

  1. You will need to take a small bowl and combine cilantro, tuna and mayonnaise in it.
  2. After that, take the English muffin halves and then put them on a small baking sheet.
  3. Top the muffin halves with cheese and tuna mixture and put it in a toaster oven. Bake it in a preheated 350 degrees Fahrenheit toaster oven until the cheese is melted.

6. Bruschetta

Bruschetta is a fantastic appetizer that you should try preparing for your family one of these fine days. The following is how it is made.

  • 1/2 French baguette (sliced into 12 pieces)
  • 12 cherry tomatoes (diced)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 4 lg. of basil leaves, chiffonade
  • 1/4 cup of fresh mozzarella cheese (diced)
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • Extra virgin olive oil

How to Prepare:

  1. First, you will pre-heat the oven to 450 degrees and then slice the half of the baguette into 12 1/2 inch thick pieces.
  2. Put the slices of the baguette on a baking sheet and then toast them on the top rack of the toaster oven for about 5 to 6 minutes at 450 degrees. They should turn golden brown around the edges.
  3. After making sure that the slices are cool enough to handle, take a clove of garlic that is cut into half and use it to rub them and then drizzle the extra virgin oil on them.
  4. Put the diced mozzarella, diced tomatoes and basil a small bowl and then drizzle with extra virgin olive oil. Season the mixture with pepper and salt and then stir to combine.
  5. Spoon the tomato mixture over the bruschetta. You can also serve it on the side as a dip.


The above-mentioned recipes will not take forever to prepare. They will make you feel physically and mentally great because they are nutritious and delicious. You will also have good energy levels when you eat these dishes. There are many other healthy toaster oven recipes that you can try. These are just but a few.

Just remember to use a larger toaster oven when you are preparing the food for many people. Alternatively, you can prepare the food in batches if you have a smaller toaster oven.
