There are different ways and exercises of improving the brain’s capability to function. Brain enhancing formulas have been invented and some of them accepted as working brain enhancers, but mental exercises are the best way to go.

Give your brain a workout

The brain develops millions of neural pathways throughout a person’s growth process that help process and remember information, solve problems and execute familiar tasks with very little mental effort. If you stick to this path, you are giving the brain the push it needs to keep growing and developing. Memory just like muscular strength should be kept under constant use or face the risk of losing it. The more you keep your brain’s working, the better you will enhance the brain’s memory performance. The best workout activities for the brain challenge you to use the brain and develop new ways to tackle tasks.

A good brain boosting activity should teach you something new, challenge you, and it should also be a skill you can build on and should be rewarding. Think of something new you always wanted to try out, like learning the piano or guitar, playing a new game, learning a foreign language or a new dance. Any of this and other activities can help improve your memory, as long as they keep you under a challenge and fully engaged brain-wise.

Physical exercise

Direct mental exercise is very important for brain development, growth and health, but exercising physically also helps in improving memory brain capabilities. Physical exercise helps your brain stay intelligent, and by increases oxygen intake to your brain it reduces the risk for mental disorders that lead to losing of memory such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Exercising physically also boosts the performance of healthy brain chemicals in the brain and also reduces stress hormones.

It is also useful to brain development as it boosts the growth factors of the brain and stimulates the development of new neural connections. Exercising can help finish mental fatigue. Aerobics and exercises that require hand-eye coordination or complex movement skills are particularly beneficial for building the brain.

Get enough sleep

Everyone requires a certain amount of sleep for them to perform at their best. Adults need between 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night so as to avoid sleep deprivation. If one lacks enough memory, creativity, ability to solve the problem and critical thinking skills are all compromised. Sleep is critical to memory in an essential way in that it is necessary for memory consolidation, with key memory-enhancing activities occurring during the deepest stages of sleep. You should have a regular sleep program and reduce caffeine intake to ensure you get enough sleep.

Make time for friends

A life full of friends is very beneficial to a person. Human beings are very social animals who cannot flourish in isolation. Human relationships extremely stimulate our brains; fact has it that interacting with each other may be the best kind of brain exercise. Having a real friendship is vital for both emotional and brain health.

In a study from Harvard school of public health, for example, people with the most active social lives were found to have the slowest rate of memory decline. You should take advantage of the benefits of socializing to improve your brain memory. You could volunteer, join a club, visit friends more often, reach out over the phone regularly or take up a pet.

Laugh more often

Unlike other emotions that are limited to specific areas of the brain, laughter engages multiple regions across the whole brain. Listening to jokes and coming up with funny lines stimulates areas of the brain that are important for learning and creativity. Daniel Goleman, the author who wrote in his book ‘Emotional intelligence’ that “laughter seems to help people think more broadly and associate more freely”.

You could use the following ways to look for laughter; laughing at yourself over embarrassing moments, spending time with happy people, surround yourself with reminders that make you feel happy and pay attention to children and emulate them.

Conclusion

Emotional difficulties like stress and depression can take a toll on the brain. Mental sluggishness, lack of concentration and forgetfulness are signs of depression which should be treated early to avoid long-term effects. Manufactured brain enhancers have also flooded the market, one of them being Genius. It is an all-natural supplement that offers clearer thought patterns by enhancing neurotransmitters in the brain.
