This infographic titled “ Hearing Loss – A Disability that is Affecting the People Worldwide” describes all about hearing loss including its type, degree, social and mental affects, essentiality of hearing test, and ways to reduce the risk of hearing loss. Hearing loss generally occurs when there is a problem with one or more parts of the middle or inner ear. Fluid in the middle ear, ear infections, impacted ear wax, tumors, tinnitus, etc. are some common causes of hearing loss. Studies have shown that today approximately 2 million people are profoundly deaf, and 30-40 percent of people over 65 have some type of hearing loss. It has been documented that 14 percent of people between the ages of 45-64 also have some type of hearing loss.

Hearing loss gradually affects the child’s development if it arises earlier in a child’s life. Children with hearing loss have difficulty with all areas of academic achievement like courier tracking, especially reading and mathematical concepts. Apart from this, it influences a huge impact on social and mental development of the person who is suffering from hearing loss. Though, hearing loss cannot be cured permanent, it can be minimized with some precautions.

If a person has difficulties in hearing, he must consult to his nearby hearing health professional to take a hearing test. This easy hearing screening will help you check for hearing problems and if found what is the best way to treat the same. Along with hearing test, there are some preventive measures which should be taken into account to minimize the risk of hearing loss.

Practices such as avoiding excessive noise, wearing hearing protection devices or hearing aids, regular earwax removal, eating a healthy diet, maintaining proper weight and daily exercise can actually help you avoid the risk of hearing loss.
