Figs Fruit Nutrition facts and Health Benefits

Figs fruits are in bell-shaped, with a wide, flat bottom narrowing top. When the fruit ripens, the top of it will bend, forming like a “neck”. Figs can be of verities of colors such as purple, yellow, green, black or brown, and vary in size.

like i said above figs are rich in dietary fiber. Fiber and fiber related foods have positive effects on weight management. Women who increased their fiber intake with supplements significantly decreased their energy intake, yet their hunger and satiety scores did no t change. Fig is an excellent source of dietary fiber. It is an efficient food to lose weight.

Lower Cholesterol

Figs are good sources of fiber. It contain soluble fiber called pectin that undergoes through the digestive system, mops up waste cholesterol and push them out from the body. So a regular diet of figs can help you to cut down your cholesterol in all regular ways.

Coronary Heart Disease

Figs are rich in phenol and omega-6 fatty acids. These are natural heart boosters, so that it might able to reduce the risk of coronary heart diseases.

Colon Cancer

It is also believed that the fiber in figs cancer mop up and user out causing substances, thus reducing the risk of various types of cancer. Figs are especially good in preventing colon cancer.

Menopausal Breast Cancer

Fiber content in figs provides protection against breast cancer. 51, 823 menopausal women for an average of 8.3years showed a 34%  reduction in breast cancer risk for those consuming the most fiber fruit conpared to those consuming the least.

In addition, women who had ever used hormone replacement, those consuming the most fiber, especially cereal fiber, had a 50% reduction in their risk of breast cancer compared to thore consuming the least. Fruits rich in fiber include dates, figs, apples, prunes, pears.

Diabetes

People suffering from diabetes should adopt high fiber diet. The leaves of the fig tree are one of the edible parts that are rich in fiber.

The leaves of fig contain anti-diabetic properties that can reduce the amount of insulin needed by the persons suffering from diabetes to those who have to take insulin injections. Liquid extract made from fig leaves was added to the breakfast in order to reduce diabetes are lowering of insulin injections.

Hypertension

People used to take more sodium in the form of salt. Low potassium or low intake of potassium rich foods and high sodium level may lead to hypertension. Figs are high in potassium but low in sodium. So, it helps to avoid hypertension.

Sexual Weakness

Figs are known for reducing sexual weakness. Soak 2 to 3 figs in milk overnight and eat them in the morning to enhance your sexual power. It also helps in gaining weight. Hence by consuming figs sexual power can be increased.

Piles

Figs are efficient for your digestive system. It provides good in digestion and improves body metabolism. Daily intake of figs is very beneficial to those who are suffering from piles or hemorrhoids.

Kidney Problem

Figs contains substantial amount of oxalate and there fore, if you are suffering from any kidney related disease or gall bladder problem, do not eat figs because it causes severe beverages. So those who have kidney problems stop consumption of this fruit.
