Are You Experiencing Frigidity? Here Is Why

Frigidity is said to occur when a woman begins to experience sexual indifference, low libido and reduced sex drive. It can also be defined as the inability of a woman to reach orgasm. There are so many factors that can influence this or cause this to occur.

Those factors can be either from psychological problems such as stress, anxiety, depression, severe fatigue, incessant worry, intense guilt, fear (either the fear of pregnancy or the fear of painful sexual intercourse). Frigidity can also occur when the woman doesn’t desire her partner or there is no mutual desire and the spark of passion between them.

Medical or any health related issues or problems can also cause frigidity in women. The woman may be well aware of what is happening to her body or she might not be aware of what is happening to her. However, when this happens both partners need to communicate about it.

There are some common problems that are related to frigidity. They could even pass as signs of frigidity in your partner and these are signs that you should watch out for. They include:

1. Lack of sexual desire

When a woman doesn’t have the desire to have any sexual relations at that period in time. There are so many factors that can lead to this lack of desire. Factors like hormonal changes, medical issues and treatments which may be radical such as chemotherapy and cancer, pregnancy, traumatic stress, trauma, depression, anxiety, or fatigue.

All these factors can cause your spouse not to have a desire to have sex. Sometimes, it could also mean you are starting to get really boring in bed. When you are so used to just one sexual position and style in bed, this can become so boring to your spouse and hence cause frigidity.

2. Inability to get aroused

Your spouse might be experiencing the inability to get aroused by you. This will inevitably cause the lack of proper vaginal lubrication. The inability to get physically aroused may be attributed to anxiety or inadequate foreplay to induce proper stimulation.

Sometimes, the problem could be inadequate blood flow to the clitoris or the vagina. Although research is still going on on this but then researchers claim that this could be a factor that contributes to this.

3. Pain while having sex

When a female is experiencing pain during sex, this will naturally kill her libido and desire to have sex. There are a lot of factors that can contribute to this problem and they include the presence of a pelvic mass, ovarian cyst, endometriosis, vaginitis (infection of the vagina), presence of a scar tissue, or a sexually transmitted disease.

Another very severe condition that can cause this is vaginismus. It occurs when there are occurrences of involuntary but very painful spasms of the muscles that surround the vaginal area.

This occurs in women who have an intense fear of sexual penetration. Women who already have the mindset that penetration is painful or it can generate from the phobia of sex as a result of a previous traumatic or painful experience  such as rape.

4. Complete lack of orgasm

Otherwise known as anorgsmia, it occurs when there is the absence of orgasm (which is sexual climax). This can be caused by lack of experience in either side, lack of adequate knowledge on how to please your partner, or some other psychological factors such as anxiety, guilt, or a trauma caused from a previous experience.

Aside psychological factors, there are some other factors that can cause this such as chronic medical conditions, some medications and insufficient sexual stimulation in the woman.

5. Hormonal imbalance

There are some certain hormones that can play very key roles in regulating the sexuality of a woman. The most important hormone is estrogen. Estrogen is a key hormone in the body of a female that regulates the female ovulation and menstrual cycle.

Once a woman attains menopause, the level of estrogen reduces by a large margin and thus can lead to changes in the sexual performance of the woman. One of the most important signs to note is the reduction or complete lack of vaginal lubrication.

Apart from lack of vaginal lubrication, the lady will also experience lack of sensation around the genital area.

6. Hysterectomy (total removal of the uterus):

One of the major sites of the production of estrogen hormone is the uterine lining. Once the uterus is removed, the woman may experience loss of sexual activity, arousal or vaginal lubrication in her body.

If as a woman, you are experiencing this issues time and time again, then you must visit your doctor for evaluation and proper check up.
