Originally, electronic cigarettes were designed and introduced as an aid to smoking cessation and there are limited evidences which also suggest that electronic cigarettes also contain certain amount of nicotine which ultimately assists people in quitting smoking.

There are lots of evidences which suggest that e-cigs are safer than tobacco cigarettes as they don’t involve burning anything. The tar and smoke that is released from cigarettes is the most harmful element and nicotine is just the addictive element in cigarettes.

With the soaring popularity of vaping, more and more e-cig companies are joining hands to fight against tobacco. As reports suggest that cigarette smoking is one of the biggest preventable causes of death due to cancer, the companies are trying their best to reduce the number of smokers.

Can e-cigarettes assist the adults in quitting smoking?

The FDA might have approved e-liquids but they haven’t approved e-cigarettes as the best smoking cessation aid. A group of health professionals with IS Preventive Services Task Force, have concluded that there is still not enough evidence which proves that e-cigarettes can be used to stop smoking, especially among pregnant women too.

Nevertheless, if non-pregnant adult smokers use e-cigs as a total substitute, they can find a reduction in their habit of smoking.

  • Till date, there have been few studies whose results give you mixed reactions. According to one study, it was proved that e-cigarettes along with nicotine can help the smokers to stop smoking but that is in the long run as compared with the non-nicotine e-cigarettes. If you keep on reducing the strength of nicotine in your e-cigarettes, you can ultimately be able to ditch smoking.
  • On the other hand, as per a CDC study, there were several adults who were found using e-cigarettes with an attempt to quit smoking. But majority of the adult users of e-cigs don’t stop smoking cigarettes and instead they’re continuing to use both the products which are causing more harm to their health. Dual use is never one of the effective ways in protecting your health and this need to be stopped as soon as possible.

Therefore, if you’re someone who smokes tobacco cigarettes and you’re an adult who’s not pregnant, you can switch to vaping to gradually quit smoking. But if you tend to stick to both the habit of smoking and vaping, this is not going to do any good to your health.
