You have probably heard about the one that it is genetic, or it can be caused by living an unhealthy lifestyle. But, are you familiar with the “theory” that masturbation can lead to hair loss?

The “theory” about hair loss being caused by masturbation argues that the body loses a lot of protein through ejaculation. And the loss of protein leads to hair loss. Other gurus do argue that there is an increase in the DHT hormone, which is responsible for baldness when men masturbate.

Reading such on the internet can be worrying because it leaves you wondering if your one on one action may lead to the loss of that pretty hair of yours. Before you take action, it’s advisable you get to listen to what actual professionals have to say about this.

Can Masturbation Really Cause Hair Loss?

Here’s what Mona Gohara, M.D, an associate clinical professor of Medicine at Yale and a dermatologist at Advanced DermCare, has to say regarding this matter.

The professor dismisses the idea and says that there is no scientific evidence proving that masturbation can lead to hair loss. She continues arguing that if it were, millions of people could be bald as we speak.

To make matters even better. Masturbation and sex do have positive impacts on a person’s health. Masturbation aids in relieving stress, increasing sleep and improving general happiness.

So, What Causes Hair Loss?

According to Joshua Zeichner, M.D and director of cosmetics and clinical research at Mt. Sinai Hospital, genes and the environment can lead to hair loss. He adds that if it is genetic, you may be unable to control it.

Dr. Zeichner also says that how you treat hair can also lead to hair loss. This entails the use of harsh chemical strengtheners, extreme heat, and tight ponytails or braids.
Other causes of hair loss include;

  • Stress
  • Lack of vitamins and essential body nutrients
  • Change in hormones
  • Some ailments such as thyroids

There are a lot of other causes of hair loss, but you can be assured that your one on one action isn’t one of them. Therefore, don’t let false theories stop you from pleasuring yourself.
