  4. Check ASAPS membership: ASAPS membership ensures that a doctor not only is ABPS-certified but also has significant experience in cosmetic surgery.  To make sure that the surgeon is a member, visit the ASAPS database and find a plastic surgeon.
  5. Board certification: Ensure that your cosmetic surgeon is accredited by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Plastic surgeon must have a minimum of 3 years in general surgery training as well as 2 years of plastic surgery training.
  6. Visit clinics: Visit the clinics and gather as much information as you can about the surgeons. Note down the set of question you intend to ask your surgeon. the list can consist of questions regarding:
    • The surgeon’s certification and practical knowledge
    • How frequently they have already performed the treatment you need
    • The care you can expect after the operation
    • How much it will cost you

  1. Thanks for listing the things to consider before choosing cosmetic surgeons. I’ve been thinking of getting a breast augmentation procedure to achieve a symmetrical shape for my breasts. With that said, I shall then look for a cosmetic surgeon who is accredited by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has gained five years of training in the field. Hopefully, I can find one here in town.
