Basic Stress Relief Tips For Students

According to a study published in Depression and Anxiety, a medical journal, three out of four college students are stressed with most of the students reporting suicidal thoughts.

The study went on to cite some of the causes for the stress to be the mounting expectations from the caregivers, the shock of being away from home, and the evolving self-identity.

Just like an adult, a teenager also experiences stress. A research done by the American Psychological Association (APA) showed that teens have the same stress levels as those of adults.

College life involves many engaging activities, some of which can take a toll on you as a student. The multiple hours you spend trying to complete the assignment, studying for tests, and trying to stay attentive in class even after staying awake longer in the night are some of the cases contributing to the stress. The good news is that you can reduce the stress by adhering to the following tips.

Time Management

As a student, you need to have a personal timetable that clearly outlines all the activities that you engage in every day. You have probably heard of this tip so many times.

Even though this tip seems obvious, sticking to the timetable is what counts. For this tip to work, you must be highly- disciplined in adhering to the activities you stipulate in the timetable.

Unfortunately, there will be those times when you have so many assignments such that you cannot adhere to your timetable. This is where a paper writing service comes in.

By getting the help you need in completing your assignments, you will be able to engage in other activities on your timetable. The other activities may be sports, meeting with friends, or catching up on your favorite novel. These activities help you relieve stress.

Put Yourself First

For you to give your best, whether, in your education or any extracurricular activity, you will need to be at your best.

One of the things you can do to stay at your best shape is by eating healthy and exercising. It may not be easy to eat healthy, especially since junk food may be so tempting, but try as much as possible always to eat healthily.

If you feel like you are exhausted in between your assignments, you can stop and go for a quick run or take a short nap.

Research has shown that a nap of around twenty minutes is sufficient to boost your mood, enhance your attention and motor skills, and generally make you feel recharged.

Alternatively, you can keep yourself energized by going for runs or doing some yoga in between classes. Be attentive to what your body is telling you and be ready to say no if it is necessary. By saying no, you will avoid being exhausted and stressed out.

Your Favorite Playlist as a Stress Reliever

Whatever the situation you may be in, music can help you through it. When preparing for a presentation, empowering music can help, you get that confidence you need to carry out the presentation.

When feeling sad, sad music can help you get rid of the pain by crying it out as you listen to music. To put on a smile on your face, listening to music that reminds you of happy moments does the trick.

Some students have even found music to be helpful in their study. For instance, you can play classical music as you study. Music can do all these and so much more. It is no wonder that music has remained a prominent stress reliever throughout centuries.

Stay Positive

Do you know that the secret to having better experiences is simply by thinking positive? By thinking positive, you end up attracting better things in your life, be it better grades, better relationships, and even better health.

The opposite is true. Pessimists end up attracting negative situations by always thinking negatively.

However, before your mind gets into a positive thinking habit, you have to train it. One way of training your brain to stay positive is by always speaking positively to yourself.

Secondly, focusing on your positive attributes and achievements will eventually help you stay positive. However, be sure to remain realistic and not overdo the positive thinking.

In addition to the above tips, make sure you maintain your relationship with your loved ones. Your family and friends can be a great source of strength and stress reliever when you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed out.

You will be surprised how much better you will be feeling once you share what you are going through with your loved ones.
