Research estimates reveal that around half of the Americans use some sort of corrective lenses. Some people may be scared of visiting eye specialists due to fear that that will look different on glasses. However, this should not be the case. If you experience any of the following signs, it’s high time that you get your eye problems fixed.

Irritating headache and eye strain

Are you experiencing eye fatigue and frequent headaches that do not want to disappear? According to Marvel Optics, this could be an indicator that you need corrective lenses. Repetitive headaches are a signal that you are having eye strain or what doctors call asthenopia.

Sometimes, lack of sleep, low sugar-level, exposure to computer screens over a lengthy period of time, and straining to see due to low light or extremely bright light can cause headaches. If your headaches are not as a result of these, then you may be having an eye problem that needs corrective lenses as a remedy for the eye muscle imbalance.

Low vision

If you are having a difficulty seeing then probably you need glasses. Difficulty seeing can be of two types. One is myopia or nearsightedness, which is usually the inability to see far way objects. Opticians will recommend such people to get negative sign corrective lenses (-2.50) as the lenses will be able to correct the condition.

If not handled in good time, myopia can lead to lazy eye. On the other hand, you may be having a problem with seeing close objects, a condition referred to as hyperopia or farsightedness. When not corrected, the symptoms discussed in (a) above will develop.

Shadowy vision

Do you hold items at an arm’s length to read them? Are you experiencing blurry or fuzzy vision? You probably have an eye condition termed to as presbyopia. Presbyopia comes as people age and entails an ongoing thickening of eye’s natural lens, with the lenses becoming flaccid.

People with this condition are usually given bifocal or progressive addition lenses. Most of them resolve for surgery to have the condition corrected.

If your eyes are not what they used to be then it is time to see an eye doctor and get your vision corrected. It is no fun to struggle to see things that are far away or struggle to read a good book. You don’t have to settle for glasses as you can look into getting contacts. However, there are many different types of frames and sizes that one can choose.

Don’t let your eyes struggle. If you take good care of them, your vision can improve with the right kind of corrective lenses. With that said, be sure to consult your doctor to see what kind of corrective lenses you need or if you need to take more radical steps such as laser surgery.
