There has been a lot of news about CBD oil and what it can do for people with certain medical conditions.  CBD oil can help with a range of different problems from anxiety to epilepsy.  However, it is important that you understand what CBD is before you think about talking to your doctor or purchasing some online.

What Is CBD Oil?

Before you can consider the benefits and how to take CBD oil, you need to know what this is. CBD or cannabidiol is a chemical which is typically found in the cannabis plant.  However, there are other plants which also have these chemicals such as hemp.

There are hundreds of different cannabinoids in the cannabis plant and CBD is one of the most well-known along with THC. When looking at the extracts from the cannabis plant, CBD is the non-addictive and non-psychoactive compound.  It is the THC found in the plant which causes the psychoactive reactions which cannabis is most commonly known for.

CBD is also able to bind to multiple target sites which allows it to affect a range of systems within the body and help with a range of ailments. CBD oil will generally have very small amounts of THC in it.  It is almost impossible to completely separate the THC and CBD during the extraction process.  Most CBD oil on the market will have a THC content of less than 0.2%.

How You Can Use CBD Oil?

CBD extracts are generally sold in oils and tinctures.  Most people will use the oil based option because it offers better versatility.  When you use CBD oil, you will be able to take it in a capsule or mix it into food.  There are also transdermal patches that can be used as well as e-cigarette liquids and creams.

What Can CBD Oil Be Used For?

There is still a lot of research which is being done into the ailments that CBD will be able to help with.  However, it has been found that CBD oil can reduce anxiety, ease muscle soreness and help people get better sleep.  In terms of medical conditions that CBD oil can help with, research has suggested that the oil can work for people with anxiety, arthritis, psoriasis, Alzheimer’s disease, migraines, and epilepsy.

There are many studies still being completed to see the effect that this oil will have on other ailments.  However, it is important to note that the studies which have been published on this subject are not all conclusive.  There is also a disagreement in the medical world over the effectiveness of CBD oil for certain conditions.

Is CBD Oil Legal?

The legality of CBD oil will vary depending on where you are.  Certain states and countries do allow the purchase of CBD oil as long as the THC content is below 0.2%.  When buying CBD oil with this THC content, it is viewed as a dietary supplement and not a medication.  Other states will require you to have a prescription to get CBD oil while others have banned this and do not allow it to be prescribed or sold.

What Are The Side Effects?

Before you look at CBD oil, you need to know about the side effects.  CBD on its own is actually very safe and will have limited side effects when compared to other traditional medications.  Some of these side effects will include weight loss and fatigue.

However, it is often the other ingredients in the CBD oil which will have additional side effects.  If the oil has a reasonable amount of THC the number of side effects will increase.  Side effects will generally take an hour or 2 to occur.
