body

Our body is a uniquely designed mechanism where tons of things beyond our control happen at the same time. These things that happen is our body’s way of telling us something is wrong and if we ignored these signs and failed to give them attention, they may lead to severe health implications.

I know some of us are wondering what these signs are. Maybe we are possibly having them and are continually overlooking them. I’ve put together a list of some of the possible signals you may need to address immediately.

1. Dry skin

When someone is dehydrated, you know what you have to do right? Drinking water becomes the next best option for staying hydrated. However, when your skin regularly gets a drink no matter how much you hydrate, then this means you lack in vitamin E. To resolve this, you need to eat plenty of foods rich in vitamin E such as fish, nuts, oil and vegetables.

2. Insomnia, cramps and irritability

When you always complain of cramps, and you find it hard to get sleep at night, then you may need to up the magnesium and potassium in your body. Replenishing these essential elements, you’d have to consume foods rich in magnesium and potassium which includes bananas, oranges, spinach and tomatoes.

3. Ice snack

If you have the desire to snack on ice, then it’s likely that you have iron deficiency (Anemia). You would always feel the need to want to crunch and eat ice. As much as this may be fun to do, it is unhealthy and needs to be addressed immediately. You must include some sources of iron to your diets such as eggs, beef and molluscs. If the feeling continues to persist, consult your doctor.

4. Sweet tooth

If you constantly feel the need to take sugary things like sweet, then you should know your body is asking for glucose. This feeling can be triggered by depression, stress or fatigue and it is best to quickly do something about it before things get out of hands. Have some dark chocolate from time to time to keep your glucose level in order.

5. Bleeding gums

Your body might cause you pain by causing your mouth to bleed through the gum, especially when you brush your teeth. This might be a clear sign of vitamin C deficiency, and this can be rectified by merely adding tomatoes, green and red peppers, cabbage, citrus fruits, broccoli and cauliflower to your diet.

6. Rings around the irises

Finding rings around older adults’ eyes is normal. It’s no reason to worry until it appears in a younger person’s. This indicates that there is a high level of cholesterol in the body and the doctor’s attention is needed immediately.

7. Weak nails and hair

You definitely know something is amiss your hair breaks easily and your nails show some form of discolourations. This is your body’s way of letting you know you are lacking vitamin B and needs immediate replenishing. Consume more milk and eat mushrooms and nori seaweeds.

8. Greek foot

A Greek foot, also commonly known as “Morton’s toe”, is a longer second toe on the foot. This is common with 20 to 30 % of the world’s population and could be as a result of callusing and/or inconvenience on the ball of the foot at the base of the second toe. This can make wearing shoes very uncomfortable.

I do hope you found reading this informative. Have you had any experience with the above listed? If yes, what steps did you take to make things better? Please drop your opinions in the comments. Thank you.
