Intermittent fasting isn’t a new fad, but it’s certainly one that’s held on in celebrity circles for years.
Celebrity PT Steele Williams who now runs personal trainer courses believes that intermittent fasting is a great option as at times a period of fasting can be one less thing to think about for celebrities who have a super hectic schedules and very little downtime.
He says there are 3 common methods:
- The 16/8 method: Also called the Leangains protocol, it involves skipping breakfast and restricting your daily eating period to 8 hours, such as 1–9 p.m. Then you fast for 16 hours in between.
- Eat-Stop-Eat: This involves fasting for 24 hours, once or twice a week, for example by not eating from dinner one day until dinner the next day.
- The 5:2 diet: With this methods, you consume only 500–600 calories on two non-consecutive days of the week, but eat normally the other 5 days.
Here are just a few of the stars who somehow manage to not eat for many hours during the day.
Terry was one of the first celebs to hop on this bandwagon. He eats his first meal around 2 p.m. (!), and he’ll eat as he likes until 10 p.m. He’ll break the daily 16-hour fasting period for coffee or tea, but that’s about it.
Justin’s trainer’s had him do something a bit different in the past — a few weeks of eating between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. … and nothing outside of that.
Mr. Holmes follows a bit of a different regimen. He’s on the 5:2 diet, which means two days a week he eats only about 500 calories or fewer. The other five, he’s much less restricted.
It’s unclear how long Ben’s been doing this for, but it’s also reportedly his MO.
