If you are planning a long road trip with your partner and child or children this summer, or even a coast-to-coast road trip in the fall, you will already know that the best way to ensure everyone enjoys the drive is to be as prepared as possible.
So, continue reading to learn of four ways to make a long car trip with your family substantially more enjoyable.
Provide Plenty of Water
Even though you will no doubt be stopping off for restroom breaks and lunch on your journey, it is still important for you and every other member of your family to be as hydrated as possible.
This is especially important if you are driving on the hot summer days, and you should provide a large bottle of water for each passenger and yourself, and place them in the holders in the doors ready before you leave. This will also save you money on the extortionate prices of bottled water at gas stations and rest stops too.
Be Considerate
You will have no doubt experienced the annoyance of sitting next to a stranger on the train who proceeds to loudly crunch an apple and then open a bag of smelly cheese and onion chips and silently be wanting to berate them for how inconsiderate they are being to other passengers.
Everyone in your car is close to you, but this still doesn’t mean that you should deliberately bring along snacks which are going to make them uncomfortable. Furthermore, if you are an e-cigarette user, you should always wind down the window enough for the vapor to escape the car and order vape juice online that has a more subtle and inviting scent.
Conduct a Full Vehicle Check Before You Leave
The last thing you want is for your car to break down in the middle of nowhere due to a flat tire, lack of oil or worse, simply forgetting to fill the tank up with enough gas.
The night before you are due to leave, you should conduct a full check of your vehicle, both inside and out and it would also be an incredibly good idea to declutter the entire car and clean everywhere, both inside and out. You could also provide a garbage bag which hangs over the back seat, so the car is kept somewhat tidy on the long journey.
Pack a Cool Bag Full of Healthy Snacks
It is far more tempting to fill up with fizzy cans of soda and numerous bags of chips, as well as a wide plethora of candies and chocolate bars.
However, even though taking along a family-size bag of hard-boiled candy is a good idea and perfectly acceptable, especially if you are travelling with your children, you should endeavor to pack some more healthy snacking alternatives as well.
Snacks such as peanut butter-infused apple slices, carrots and celery sticks, mixed nuts and protein bars will all provide valuable energy for the journey ahead.
