No matter who you are, or what you look like, you probably have something about yourself that you don’t like. This is something that everyone experiences, however, a lack of body confidence may cause further issues in your day-to-day life that you may want to avoid.
Loving yourself and the way you look can sometimes be difficult, which is why we’ve devised 4 tips that could help you improve your body confidence.
1. See the Beauty in Others
One way to become more confident in yourself is to look for beauty in others, no matter what they look like. Too often, women and men follow stereotypically ‘beautiful’ people on social media and bombard themselves with hundreds of images of people that they may feel are more beautiful or perfect than themselves.
The fact is, beauty comes in many shapes and sizes, and open your mind to unconventional types of beauty could help you to improve your own body image. Try following plus size models on Instagram, or finding inspiration in people that you wouldn’t necessarily class as picture perfect and you may find that you become more comfortable and accepting of your own imperfections.
2. Treat Yourself
If you have a busy schedule, self-care can often take a back seat and this can often lead to a lack of body confidence. To combat this, try setting aside a day or two every month where you focus on self-care and feeling good about yourself.
You could go to the spa and get a facial or a mani-pedi. You could also go to the gym and do a super hard workout to give you a positive mental boost. Whatever makes you feel good. Days like this can really give you a positive confidence boost that you can carry into your everyday life.
3. Focus on the Positives
When you look in the mirror in the morning, it can be really easy to pick out all of the negatives about your appearance, and this can often cause you to have a hard day when it comes to your body confidence.
If you want to feel more positive about your day, try picking out one positive thing about your appearance that you can remind yourself of any time you need a boost. Maybe you’ve got really nice hair, or you’re wearing a new dress. Whatever it is, try to remember this when you’re interacting with people throughout the day instead of thinking about the negatives.
4. Stand Tall
This a great and easy body confidence tip. If you’re not feeling your best, it can be easy to shrink into yourself, both mentally and physically. However, making a concerted effort to sit or stand up straight can help you to feel more confident, and you’ll likely look better to others too.
Slouching can cause your clothes to crinkle and sometimes make you look a little disheveled, but it’s easily rectified by trying to improve your posture.
