3 Health Symptoms You Shouldn’t Ignore

Your well-being is paramount, so if you’ve noticed something that doesn’t seem quite right, it’s important that you don’t just ignore it. This might only makes things worse, and sometimes you simply can’t afford to let your health concerns slip to the back of your mind. In this blog, we take a look at three symptoms that you shouldn’t turn a blind eye to.

Difficulties in the bedroom

If you or your partner are having difficulties in the bedroom, it can be tempting to ignore the issue in the hope that it will go away. However, while you might feel too embarrassed to talk about an intimate problem, it could be a sign that something is wrong. So, even if you think it’s going to be awkward, it’s important that you speak up about it.

For instance, erectile dysfunction (ED) can be a tricky subject to talk about. However, your reluctance to open up about it could be detrimental to your health. ED can be sign of an underlying medical condition, such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes or even heart disease.

So, if you or your other half has been suffering with this problem, you shouldn’t ignore it. You could start by speaking to your GP to determine the root of the problem and discuss the treatment options available. You could also carry out your own research online by visiting trusted sources such as LloydsPharmacy Online Doctor.

Unexplained weight loss

It’s perfectly normal for your weight to go up and down from time to time, but if you suddenly lose a significant amount unintentionally, you shouldn’t just shrug it off. In fact, your shift in weight could be linked to a serious illness.

For example, it could be that you have kidney or heart disease. It could also indicate that you’re suffering from a stomach ulcer or inflammatory bowel disease, or it could be related to problems with your thyroid. So, if you’ve noticed that you’ve dropped some pounds without even trying, it’s a good idea to book an appointment with your doctor to get checked out.

Excessive thirst

If you find that you’re drinking more fluids than normal, your body could be trying to tell you something. Also known as polydipsia, excessive thirst can be a symptom of a number of health problems, such as diabetes – especially if you also feel extremely tired and have the urge to urinate more often than usual.

Diabetes affects your ability to keep the blood glucose levels in your body under control. If they become too high, it can cause your kidneys to produce more urine to help get the glucose out of your body. As a result, you will feel thirstier, making you drink to replace the fluids that you’ve lost.

So, if you have a thirst that can’t be quenched, it’s important that you don’t try to disregard the issue. Your doctor will be able to carry out tests to determine if you have diabetes or if there is something else to blame for your excessive thirst.

If you ignore these symptoms, you could be doing yourself more harm than good. So, if you want to remain happy and healthy, it’s crucial that you do something about them.
