Did you know that essential oils can help you detoxify your body?  Toxins, at the pure definition, can be any foreign substance that is disease causing. It’s difficult to avoid every toxin, and there are likely toxins that you’ll come across in everything you eat and drink, from coffee to preservatives in food.

Toxins accumulate in our bodies, causing us to suffer from disease, sickness or just not feeling like our normal selves.

The good news is that essential oils can be used to get rid of these disease-causing toxins. Even if disease wasn’t a concern, detoxing allows your body to rid itself of foreign substances and allows the body to function at full capacity.
Essential oils can help you detoxify in several ways.

1. Detox Baths

You can take baths in essential oils, and this is very good for your skin. The good news is that a detox bath smells great, removes toxins and is a good excuse to sit in a hot warm bath. You can take a detox bath two to three times per week.
A general detox bath is rather simple:

You’ll add all of these ingredients into an empty tub, fill with warm water and then soak in the bathtub. A carrier oil should be added into the tub, too. You can choose from a variety of oils, but jojoba and grapeseed are among my favorite.
Soak in this mixture for 20 – 30 minutes.

2. Oil Pulling

The toxins that you consume go right through your mouth. Your mouth can be seen as the entrance for toxins to the core of the body. Oil pulling has the ability to remove a lot of these toxins.
You’ll find studies mentioning that oil pulling can:

  • Eliminate infections
  • Reduce risk of heart attacks
  • Reverse gum disease
  • Help autoimmune disorders

A lot of people are starting to incorporate oil pulling into their daily routine. You can perform oil pulling 3 – 4 times per week.

You’ll find that most people choose to use coconut oil to perform oil pulling. This is best done in the morning with 1 – 2 tablespoons of your oil. Essentially, you’ll swish the oil in your mouth for 20 minutes or so.

It will hurt your cheeks, but it will also help pull the toxins out of the body.
Make sure that you do not swallow any of the oil. When you’re done, you’ll want to spit the oil in the garbage because it can also clog your drains. Afterwards, you’ll want to brush your teeth to finish the process.

You can add essential oils into the mix to help you deal with the oil pulling, including:

  • Lemon or peppermint oil for taste
  • Oregano oil or tea tree oil to fight off infection

But you can also oil pull sans essential oil.

3. Weekly Water Detox

If you’ve never detoxed before, you can start today with a potent detox drink. There is a mixture that I recommend to friends and family that will help boost your detoxifying efforts. A quick and easy drink can help a lot.
You’ll want to add the following into your water:

  • Lemongrass
  • Clove
  • Rosemary

I recommend just adding one drop of each into your water every morning. You’ll want to do this for about a week or so before stopping. The idea is that all of these essential oils will help your body get rid of toxins.

But you might form an immunity, so you should only follow this routine for a week at most.
