So, let’s get started!

Wash Your Hair

Step 1 – Washing your hair well shampoo and conditioner

  • First, select a conditioner and shampoo that is perfect for your hair. With oily hair, you must select a shampoo that extracts only the additional oil, while for dry hair you may use a shampoo that can moisturize your hair deeply.
  • After washing your hair with a shampoo, you may use a volumizing conditioner. If your hair already has good volume, then you may use a regular conditioner.
  • Take the quarter size of conditioner and apply it to your hair.
  • Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Step 2 – Towel Dry Hair

  • No need to rub your hair harsh as you can towel dry them.
  • Blot them gently and repeat the process for a few times. This will take off excess moisture from the hair.

Step 3 – Use an Alcohol-free and Volumizing Mousse

  • Take a small amount of volumizing mousse into your hands. The quantity can be similar to the size of a tennis ball.
  • Take the mousse and apply them from your hair roots to the end.
  • For longer hair, the mousse may be applied near the scalp.
  • One same mousse may not work for everyone, and hence, you must pick a mousse that matches well with your hair type.

Step 4 – Allow Your Hair to Air Dry

  • Now before you begin blow drying your hair, allow them to air dry.
  • Make sure that your hair must be at least 60% dry.
  • If you are in hurry and you don’t have much time for air drying your hair, then keep blotting with a towel.
  • This step may take some more time to prepare your hair for blow drying, but it is great to prevent your hair from being frizzy or experiencing any damage.

Prepare Your Hair for Blow Drying

Step 1 – Apply a good quality heat protectant to your Hair

  • Make sure you use a thermal heat protectant that can prevent all sorts of damage to your hair from the blow dryer.
  • Heat protectants are available in various forms and can also be available in oil form.
  • Apply a small layer of the heat protectant gently and evenly on your hair.

Step 2 – Divide Hair into Equal Sections

  • You may section out your hair depending on the width, volume, texture, and length of your hair.
  • Gradually, let these sections fall down while you blow dry the remaining hair.
  • Secure the sections with hair clips while leaving the bottom hair down.
  • If you have too thin hair, then you may create 4 to 6 sections of the entire hair.
  • With thick hair, you need to divide the hair into 9 to 10 sections.
  • Create small sections so that you can avail flawless blow drying.

Step 3 – Prepare Your Blow Dryer on Low Heat

  • Most individuals consider using a hotter blow dryer as they believe it to be more effective. But let me tell you that such a blow dryer can damage your hair and leave them frizzy and dry.
  • Place your blow dryer at lowest setting or medium setting.
  • Since most of your hair must be dry while you begin using a blow dryer, so you must use the blow dryer more as a hair styling tool than a hair drying method.

Begin Blow Drying Your Hair

Step 1 – Take a Brush and Wrap one section of Hair Around

  • No need to wrap your hair all around the brush. You may pull the brush with hair wrapped around it to create tension on the hair.
  • Blow dry the tips of the hair, while moving the brush in round direction towards inwards.
  • Then move slowly towards middle and then finally to the roots.
  • When moving the brush, make gentle strokes and then wrap the next section of the hair around the brush.
  • Always use the hairbrush in an upward direction so that you can enhance the volume of your hair while drying them.
  • Hold the dryer in one direction, while the brush in the other direction. Extend the hairbrush handle in up and down direction to add more volume to your hair.
  • You may use the brush type according to the type of your hair. For example, a paddle brush is great for those with textured and thick hair. Ceramic round brush is great for those with thinner hair.

Step 2 – Continue Repeating the Above Steps for All Sections of Your Hair

  • Release sections one by one, until the time you reach to the top hair.
  • Repeat the process of blow drying your hair for all the layers.

Step 3 – The Hair Needs to be blown to a Temperature Warmer than the Room Temperature

  • You need to continue blowing your hair till they are completely dry. One way to do is blow them till they reach a temperature warmer than the room temperature.
  • Check especially on the back and bottom of the head to identify cold spots. If you leave your hair partially wet or cold then they can become frizzy and dry.

Step 4 – Blow Backward and Up from Your Face

  • When your entire hair is dry, then you may blow from the front towards the backward direction.
  • Make sure you keep the blower away from your face.
  • For additional volume, part your hair in any of the sides. This will give a more voluminous look.
  • You may finish your look by adding a hair styling serum to keep the finish flawless and lasting.
